OPERATION ICE HOUSE

As the off-campus Ice House Building renovation ended, I got ready for a grand opening celebration featuring Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe. Secrecy surrounding the event brought to mind a clandestine operation at a faraway location. My ceremonial flyby for virtual reality commemorated his visit.

Standing outside the Innovation Space, I talked about the cramped facility and my project backlog. Hearing a thinly veneered pitch, the Governor expressed hope that our program would create job opportunities for Virginians.

Satirizing a related situation, I made a cartoon with Adobe Illustrator. Strong demand for my concept visualization service led to criticism I was diverting funding away from male-dominated hackerspaces on campus. At the Ice House Innovation Space, everyone received expert advice on computer-aided design and rapid prototyping.
