OPERATION ICE HOUSE
As the off-campus Ice House Building renovation ended, I got ready for a grand opening celebration featuring Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe. Secrecy surrounding the event brought to mind a clandestine operation at a faraway location. My ceremonial flyby for virtual reality commemorated his visit.
Standing outside the Innovation Space, I complained about the cramped facility and my project backlog. Hearing a pork barrel pitch, the Governor expressed hope that our program would create job opportunities for Virginians.
A similar situation inspired a cartoon made with Adobe Illustrator. Strong demand for my concept visualization service led to criticism I was diverting funding away from male-dominated hackerspaces on campus. Everyone was welcome at the Ice House Innovation Space, especially those with ambitious prototyping projects.
